Graco 4ever Car Seat Review

Graco 4ever Car Seat Review (2024)- Is The Graco 4Ever 4-in-1 Convertible Car Seat Worth Getting?

With so many car seats available in the market today, finding the right one might be tricky, especially for new parents. Infants do outgrow them quickly, and you end up shopping for a new one in a year or so.

That was the reason why I got interested in finding a high-quality adjustable car seat and discovered Graco 4ever 4-in-1. Like the name suggests, Graco 4ever Car Seat should last you for a very long time because the seat itself can be customized and it is fit for both babies and older children.

As one of the most popular car seats by Graco, this model can be a long-term transport solution that is both safe and comfortable for your little one.

A Closer Look at Graco 4ever Car Seat

Graco 4ever 4-in-1 Car Seat is a versatile seat that will provide your little one with the safest possible ride. It is suitable for newborns as well as for children who weigh up to 120 lbs. The seat is completely convertible, and you can easily adjust it to fit your youngster perfectly.

Since this is a 4-in-1 car seat, you will be able to choose from four different configurations: a rear facing baby car seat suitable for infants, a front facing seat which is ideal for toddlers, a booster seat, and a backless seat that can accommodate older and heavier children.

Graco 4ever Car Seat can be compared to Graco Milestone All-in-1 model. They are both convertibles, very comfortable, and feature an excellent five-point harness that is easily adjustable.

However, Milestone All-in-1 can carry less weight, and it has only three configurations – infant car seat in rear facing mode, forward facing car seat and high back booster mode.

Graco 4ever Convertible Car Seat might be slightly more expensive, but you will be able to use it for a longer stretch of time compared to many other car seats of the same range.

Pros

  • Four available configurations, from infant car seat, to toddler car seat in forward facing position and booster mode including as a backless booster seat.
  • Seat weight limit can accommodate children from 4 to 120 lbs.
  • No rethread harness for easier straps adjustment.
  • Well-padded car seat and will protect your little one from all sides.

Cons:

  • The harness straps do get tangled sometimes.
  • The convertible seat might not fit every vehicle out there.
  • The harness is hard to reach when the seat is facing the back.

Features & Benefits

Since Graco 4ever is a 4-in-1 car seat, there is plenty to talk about. So let’s dive a bit deeper and explore each and every feature of this Graco car seat in more detail.

Safe Design That Is Somewhat Comfortable

It’s evident from the very start that the design itself is very meticulous. This car seat should follow every development stage of your little one and adapt perfectly.

Padding wise, the cushioning feels really comfortable and plush under your hand, especially the removable insert which is made especially for infants. You can take the seat pad out once your baby gets bigger and transition the seat to the next stage as a forward facing car seat.

Unfortunately, some parents feedbacked that the fabric isn’t as breathable as it seems since their children were caught sweating in the seat for the most part.

Graco 4ever 4-in-1’s shell can withstand a side impact and contains energy-absorbing foam for additional protection. According to BabyGearLab, this convertible car seat scored pretty well in crash tests, so it’s definitely crash-tested safe. The five point harness is one of the key features because it allows you to adjust the height and fit by using only one hand.

You can easily reach the harness straps from the front seat and make sure your little one is comfy enough in the back. The straps are padded and will not feel confined to your child.

Easy Recline Positions

Convertible car seats, in general, did get recognition as they are safer for infants because you can adjust the recline positions to fit their delicate bodies really well. It’s nice to note that finding the right recline angle for rear facing recline positions is uncomplicated for the Graco 4Ever 4-in-1 car seat, which is quite important if you use multiple vehicles and tend to switch the one seat between them.

There are ten recline positions to choose from, and Graco 4ever features a bubble level indicator that will help you maintain the perfect car seat position while in rear facing mode that is both comfortable and safe for your youngster.

Two Cup Holders to Hold Your Kid’s Favorite Drinks

I really like the cup holders which are perfect for on-the-road snacks. You can place a sippy cup or anything your little one loves to eat, and they will always have it nearby. And don’t stress about the mess because the cup holders can be removed and cleaned if needed.

Useful Rear Facing and Forward Facing Configurations

As I have previously mentioned, Graco 4ever has four settings in total. This rear-facing baby car seat is perfect for infants. So, just place the infant insert that has additional padding which surrounds your baby’s body from all sides to provide neck support, and keep the head safely tucked in.

It will fit the car seat effortlessly and shouldn’t move an inch while in use. Don’t forget to fully recline the infant car seat as well!

Once your little one is ready to move up, remove the baby insert, set the angle of the infant seat and adjustable headrest accordingly, check the height of the harness, and you have the forward-facing car seat ready for use.

Transitioning to the booster seat is also very straightforward, and all you need to do is remove the harness by disconnecting it from the steel-reinforced frame and pull it out.

Finally, there is a backless mode that requires a complete back removal from the toddler car seat. That provides your youngster with more space and still keeps them safe while riding in your car.

Easy to Maintain

Children do tend to make a lot of mess but don’t worry if your little one spilled some juice on this car seat. Graco’s official site says that the inserts and cushions can be removed and are machine washable.

I appreciate that you don’t have to detach the harness to get the cushioning off the convertible car seat. That saves you an awful lot of time when you reassemble the seat. You can place the cushioning and the infant insert in your washing machine.

The rest of Graco 4ever 4-in-1 convertible car seat can be kept in good condition as well. Make sure you spot clean the harness and avoid washing it thoroughly. If you want to refresh the frame and make it sparkling clean, simply use soap and water.

The car seat maintenance is not complicated at all, and you will be able to keep this car seat in pristine condition for years to come.

LATCH Security

Graco 4ever Car Seat features InRight LATCH system which ensures a secure connection to the car. Once you hear the click, you can be confident that the safety seat is in its place. The installation is easy, and it takes just a couple of seconds following the selt belt path to make sure everything is tight and ready to go.

One downside is that I find the chest clip and the buckle somewhat stiff, so it may be tricky to get the chest clip (otherwise known as retainer clip too) placed at the right level against your child’s chest.

You can use the LATCH system as long as you connect the harness to the car seat itself. You can move on to the standard seat belt once you reconfigure the car seat into the backless booster mode or when your kiddo reaches 42 lbs.

Seat belts are still reliable, and there is no need to be concerned because vehicle manufacturers create new car seats having a possible little passenger in mind. You don’t have to use both LATCH system and the vehicle seat belt at the same time.

Graco Milestone is a more budget-friendly option for the fans of this particular seat brand. It shares a lot of similar features with Graco 4ever, but Milestone is slightly cheaper and has only three configurations minus the backless booster mode.

It also has a lower weight limit. The seat cushion itself is comfortable, very plush, and offers plenty of support around the baby’s upper body.

The harness and straps are pretty similar to Graco 4ever, and they will stay locked in place at all times. You can recline this seat easily using only one hand. Things to Consider Before Buying a Car Seat

Car seats should be a priority for parents who are constantly on the move and also love to travel with their children. They are here to ensure your little one is safely strapped in during the journey. So let’s take a closer look at some things you need to know before you actually go out there and purchase a car seat. Apart from the above options, another alternative convertible car seat you may want to check out is the Graco Contender 65 Convertible Car Seat, which we have covered a review for it.

LATCH or Seat Belt

Parents can connect baby car seats with the vehicle either via LATCH or a standard seat belt. The majority of new cars do feature LATCH technology, and it is very safe and easy to use.

It only takes a couple of seconds to connect the vehicle seat with LATCH. Seat belts are a bit tricky, but you can still master them in no time.

Comfort and Adjustability

Your little one will be spending a lot of time in their car seat so make sure it is well padded, especially around the shoulders and the head. The straps should be easily adjustable from the front. A buckle needs to be firm, and your little one shouldn’t be able to unlock it on their own.

Side Impact Technology

High-quality car seats have a slightly modified design that features extra padding on the sides. These side panels are made of energy-absorbing foam which protects your little one in case of an accident.

Even though it looks simple, this addition really does its work, and it will protect your little one when needed. Keeping your baby in rear-facing car seat configuration until the age of two should also elevate the safety levels.

Final Thoughts

Babies do outgrow car seats pretty quickly, so unless you are willing to buy a brand new one every year, purchasing a convertible might be the best solution. It is an excellent long term investment which will save you a lot of money in the long run because you don’t have to acquire a whole line of car seats that will end up collecting dust in your storage.

Graco 4ever 4-in-1 Car Seat is sturdy and reliable. The seat is well-padded (with energy absorbing foam), so it shields your baby from anything and keep him or her super comfortable while you are on the road together.

What I personally love about it is the fact that the car seat should last you for full ten years which means that you are set for an entire decade. It is a trusty travel companion that will be there for your little one from the very beginning until he or she doesn’t need a car seat anymore.
